BLOOMINGTON — A deck collapse at an off-campus home near Indiana University Bloomington drew emergency responders and left multiple people injured late Friday night.
First responders were dispatched at 10:29 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of North Bryan Avenue, a residential area located directly adjacent to the IU Bloomington campus, following reports of a structural failure. Upon arrival, crews discovered a collapsed rear deck and several individuals suffering from injuries.
The Bloomington Fire Department confirmed that emergency personnel responded alongside IU Lifeline crews to assist with patient care and transport. While officials have not released exact figures regarding hospital transports or the severity of the injuries, medical officials confirmed that multiple individuals are receiving treatment.
Injured individuals were transported to IU Health Methodist and IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment. There was no update available on their conditions due to HIPAA laws.
While unverified posts on social media suggested the deck gave way during a gathering at the home, authorities have not yet confirmed the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
The Bloomington Police Department declined to provide additional details on the incident until Monday. Further updates are expected as response agencies continue their review.
