Brown County Music Center partners with local early education for book drive during The Dolly Show

NASHVILLE — The Brown County Music Center and Brown County Schools Early Education have announced a community partnership in conjunction with the upcoming performance of The Dolly Show: Celebrating the Life & Music of Dolly Parton. Starring multi-award-winning performer Kelly O’Brien, the tribute production will take the stage on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Giving Back Through Reading

In the spirit of the late Dolly Parton’s famed Imagination Library—which gifts books to children from birth to age five—patrons attending the October 23 concert are invited to participate in a local book drive. Attendees can donate new or gently used children’s books (intended for ages 0–5) at a designated collection station in the venue lobby prior to the show.

All donated books will directly benefit the infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms within Brown County Schools Early Education, as well as high school students gaining hands-on experience in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Early Childhood Pathway.

“Brown County Schools is proud to offer high quality early care and education options for Brown County families,” said Deborah Harman, Director of Student Support Services at Brown County Schools. “We welcome this support as we grow our collection of children’s books within our preschool, toddler, and infant programs. We believe that a book in the hands of a caring adult is one of the most powerful learning tools a young child will ever encounter because reading aloud is not preparation for learning—it is learning!”

About The Dolly Show

For over three decades, Kelly O’Brien has paid tribute to the music, wit, and legacy of country music’s biggest icon. Officially endorsed by the Parton family and selected by Dolly Parton Enterprises as a film body double, O’Brien brings an authentic, pitch-perfect tribute to the stage. She was also the sole UK finalist in the worldwide #SearchForDolly casting search for Parton’s Broadway musical.

Backed by a live band, the theatrical concert captures Parton’s signature Tennessee lilt, soaring soprano vocals, and glittering stage style. The setlist spans decades of classic hits, including:

  • “Jolene”
  • “9 to 5”
  • “Islands in the Stream”
  • “Coat of Many Colors”
  • “Here You Come Again”
  • “I Will Always Love You”

Originally from South Australia, O’Brien gained national acclaim on television programs like New Faces and Popstars before landing a breakthrough role in Germany’s production of Starlight Express. She now tours internationally with The Dolly Show, delivering a mix of powerhouse vocals, comedy, and storytelling.
