WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Jim Banks (R-Ind.) applauded the U.S. Department of Labor’s grant of $6.74 million to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, which will expand employer-led skills training in critical industries.

Sen. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) said, “Hoosiers build the products America depends on. President Trump is bringing industry back to the United States, and I am proud to have fought for this investment that will help Indiana workers gain the skills they need to fill good-paying jobs in manufacturing and other critical sectors. Indiana is ready to lead America’s industrial comeback.”
The funding is part of $43 million awarded through the second round of the Department of Labor’s Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund. The program provides outcome-based reimbursements to employers that train workers for rapidly changing skills requirements and local workforce needs.
The grants will support workforce development in high-growth and strategically important industries, including advanced manufacturing, aerospace, construction, cybersecurity, domestic mineral production, information technology, nuclear energy, quantum computing, shipbuilding, and the maritime supply chain.
