Two juveniles referred to probation following social media threat investigation at Highland Park Elementary

MONROE COUNTY — Two local juveniles are facing referral to juvenile probation following an investigation into social media threats directed at Highland Park Elementary School, authorities announced.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office launched an immediate investigation on Sept. 28, 2026, after receiving reports regarding threatening messages posted online involving three students at the elementary school.

Investigators quickly identified two juvenile suspects in connection with the posts. During interviews with law enforcement, both individuals admitted to sending the threatening social media messages.

Following the admission, both suspects were referred to Juvenile Probation. Sheriff’s office officials also submitted a formal report regarding the incident to the Indiana Department of Child Services.

Due to state privacy laws and the age of the individuals involved, officials confirmed that no names or identifying details will be publicly released.
