WASHINGTON — Daviess County Health Department official Karl Glaze has received top statewide honors, being named Environmental Health Specialist of the Year by the Indiana Environmental Health Association (IEHA).
Glaze was formally recognized during the association’s recent fall conference for his extensive leadership and contributions to public health across Indiana.
A dedicated public servant with more than 13 years of service at the Daviess County Health Department, Glaze has played a pivotal role in shaping state policies governing on-site sewage systems. His work has been particularly instrumental in developing regulatory frameworks and installation guidelines for septic systems built on challenging mine-spoil ground.
In addition to his ongoing duties with the county, Glaze is currently pursuing certification to become an Indiana Registered Soil Scientist. The credential will allow him to assist local property owners and residents directly with soil evaluation and certification requirements for residential septic system installations.
Glaze’s career also includes leadership across multiple professional organizations. He is a past president of the Indiana Onsite Wastewater Professionals Association (IOWPA) and continues to serve in leadership roles within the Indiana Environmental Health Association’s Southern Chapter.
