INDIANA — The Indiana State Police (ISP) is actively accepting applications for its upcoming 92nd Recruit Academy, seeking individuals interested in serving across the Hoosier State.
Sergeant John Perrine with the Indiana State Police joined FOX59 Morning News to discuss the agency’s current recruitment efforts and outline the opportunities available for future state troopers.
Prospective applicants must submit their applications by 11:59 p.m. on October 11. To request an application, interested candidates can email isprecruiting@isp.in.gov.
Basic Requirements
To qualify for the 92nd Recruit Academy, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be at least 21 years old and under 40 years of age at the time of appointment as a trooper.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Be a high school graduate or hold an equivalent certification (GED or HSE).
- Meet minimum vision standards (corrected or uncorrected) of 20/50 acuity in each eye and 20/50 distant binocular acuity in both eyes.
- Be willing to reside and serve anywhere in the State of Indiana as assigned by the Superintendent.
Experience & Education Pathways
In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must fulfill at least one of the following qualifications prior to the application deadline:
- Higher Education: A minimum of 60 completed college credit hours from an accredited institution (a bachelor’s degree is preferred), verified by an official transcript.
- Military Service: A minimum of three years of active or reserve military service with an honorable discharge, or current active service in the reserves or National Guard.
- Law Enforcement Experience: A minimum of three continuous years of full-time, paid law enforcement experience, including graduation from a state-accredited police academy.
