BEDFORD — The City of Bedford Utilities Department has released its tentative fall maintenance schedule for municipal fire hydrant flushing.
Crew members will flush main water lines during overnight hours to clear sediment from water mains, verify water pressure, and ensure fire suppression infrastructure remains fully operational across municipal zones.

The tentative schedule outlines the designated areas for overnight flushing operations across the city:

Guidance for Utility Customers
During active flushing in their area, residents and local businesses may experience temporary drops in water pressure or mild tap water discoloration. Utility officials offer the following precautions:
- Clear Discolored Water: If tap water appears cloudy or discolored, run the cold water tap for a few minutes until it flows clear.
- Avoid Hot Water Use: Limit the use of hot water while tap water is discolored to prevent drawing sediment into home water heaters.
- Postpone Laundry: Residents are strongly advised to delay washing laundry until tap water has cleared completely to prevent staining clothing.
