WASHINGTON — Local leaders, philanthropic supporters, and non-profit partners gathered at The Commons on Main Street to celebrate a major milestone for regional philanthropy as Our Community Foundation marked its fifth anniversary with an evening reception.
The event brought together board members, donors, community advocates, and grant recipients to reflect on half a decade of philanthropic growth and sustainable local investing.
Five Years of Philanthropic Growth
During the evening’s presentations, Alex Knepp, treasurer of Our Community Foundation, delivered a financial update highlighting the organization’s progress since its establishment. Knepp outlined how strategic endowment management and community contributions have enabled the foundation to expand its grantmaking capacity year after year.
Board member Chance Berry emphasized the growing culture of long-term giving in the region, noting a promising trend among younger residents.
Community Grants Awarded
In keeping with the spirit of the celebration, the foundation announced two $5,000 community grants awarded to local organizations making a direct impact.
Daviess-Martin Park Board: Funding earmarked for infrastructure and facility improvements at West Boggs Park to enhance recreation opportunities for local families and visitors.
Connections: Financial support directed toward outreach efforts and critical assistance programs for local families in need.
