MITCHELL — Local vocal talent was on full display as contestants took the Main Street Stage to compete for top honors at The Persimmon Idol competition during the 2026 Mitchell Persimmon Festival.
The popular singing competition, hosted by Southern Indiana’s Classic Hits 105.5 WQRK and 102.5 LiteFM, featured a lineup of standout performers in both the Adult and Youth Divisions. A panel of local guest judges—Joanna Kai Hackney, Junior Blondell, and Becky Muncy—evaluated the evening’s talent before selecting the winning performances.
Adult Division Winner: Johnny Niece
Taking home top honors in the Adult Division was Johnny Niece of Oolitic. Playing acoustic guitar, Niece delivered a soulful rendition of Brett Young’s country hit “In Case You Didn’t Know,” dedicating the heartfelt performance to his wife.

Youth Division Winner: Jane Bingham
In the Youth Division, Jane Bingham of Bedford earned the crown with her rendition of “Nothing You Can Take From Me” by Rachel Zegler.

Both division champions captured coveted bragging rights alongside official festival hardware and monetary awards. Each winner of The Mitchell Persimmon Idol by 105.5 WQRK/102.5 LiteFM received a commemorative trophy and a $500 cash prize.
The annual singing showcase remains one of the premier highlights of the weeklong festival celebration, continuing to bring together performers and audiences from across Lawrence County and Southern Indiana.
