BLOOMINGTON — Registration is officially open for Session I of The Skating School, offering structured ice skating instruction for community members of all ages and skill levels.
The program combines core curriculum elements from the Ice Skating Institute’s Learn-to-Skate Program and U.S. Figure Skating’s Basic Skills Program. Designed to help skaters progress steadily from level to level, the curriculum focuses on building confidence and foundational skills across various ice sports.
Program Structure and Schedule
Classes are available for participants ranging from age 3 to adults. Session I spans eight weeks, running from October 9 through December 12.
- Class Length: Each weekly lesson lasts 30 minutes.
- Practice Time: Participants are allotted 30 minutes of independent practice ice time per session, with specific practice schedules provided during the first week of class.
- Class Days: Lessons are offered on Fridays and Saturdays.
Organizers emphasize that classes begin promptly at their scheduled start times. Participants are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow sufficient time to put on skates.
Registration and Fee Details
The registration fee is $80 per person, which includes skate rental for all lessons. Financial assistance and scholarships are available for qualifying individuals.
