MITCHELL — The Lawrence County Ministerial Alliance will host the annual Persimmon Festival Vesper Service on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Opera House.
Centering on the theme “Rooted in Christ,” the community worship gathering will feature guest speaker Tom Ellsworth.

A Key Tradition of the Persimmon Festival
The Vesper Service serves as a foundational evening of faith and fellowship ahead of the weeklong festivities of the annual Mitchell Persimmon Festival. Following the Candlelight Tour at Spring Mill State Park, the Sunday evening service gathers residents and visitors from across Lawrence County for prayer, music, and devotion.
The Persimmon Festival features downtown vendors, carnival rides, live main-stage entertainment, persimmon pudding contests, and a grand parade along Main Street.
The Vesper Service is free and open to all members of the public.
