INDIANA – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Forestry is actively seeking a new Program Director to lead its Community and Urban Forestry (CUF) program.
The position oversees statewide urban forestry initiatives aimed at expanding tree canopy, bolstering local ecology, and providing both technical and financial support to Hoosier municipalities.
The incoming Program Director will manage several high-profile state initiatives:
- Grant Administration: Managing the distribution of financial assistance for community-led urban forestry projects.
- Tree City USA: Directing the state’s involvement in the national recognition program for communities committed to urban forest management.
- Indiana’s Big Tree Register: Maintaining and updating the official record of the largest known native tree species across the state.
- Technical Assistance: Spearheading urban forestry and arboriculture projects across Indiana municipalities.
Qualified applicants should possess a strong background in urban forestry and arboriculture, proven organizational abilities, and extensive budget management experience. Advanced interpersonal communication and public speaking skills are required to interface effectively with local leaders, community partners, and the public.
