BLOOMINGTON — Voters in Indiana’s 9th Congressional District will have the opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives during a virtual forum on Saturday, October 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The online event, hosted jointly by the League of Women Voters of Bloomington-Monroe County, Brown County, and Southern Indiana, will feature a moderated Q&A session where members of the public can pose questions to the candidates.
Confirmed participants for the forum include Libertarian candidate Tonya Hudson, Democratic candidate Brad Meyer, and Independent write-in candidate Floyd Taylor. Republican incumbent Erin Houchin did not respond to the organization’s invitation. Sunny Leerkamp, President of the League of Women Voters of Brown County, will serve as the event’s moderator.
The candidate forum is co-sponsored by a broad coalition of community organizations, including the Bloomington Press Club, Hoosier Asian American Power, Indiana University Political and Civic Engagement (PACE), the Kappa Tau Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Limestone Post, the NAACP chapters of Columbus Bartholomew County and Monroe County, the South Central Indiana Citizens’ Climate Lobby, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington, and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus, Indiana.
