BLOOMINGTON — United Way of South Central Indiana is bringing back its Day of Caring on Friday, October 2, giving volunteers across Monroe and Lawrence counties an opportunity to roll up their sleeves and make a difference in their communities.
The community-wide day of service brings volunteers together to complete hands-on projects for local organizations and residents. Projects can include painting, landscaping, organizing donations, facility cleanup and other tasks that help local nonprofits and community spaces.
United Way is currently seeking project requests from nonprofits, schools, churches and homeowners in Monroe County who could use a helping hand.
Those interested in having a project considered for Day of Caring should submit a project request by Friday, September 4. United Way will then work to match approved projects with teams of volunteers who can lend their time and skills on October 2.
Lawrence County projects are already lined up
While the Day of Caring will include volunteer opportunities in both Monroe and Lawrence counties, United Way announced that Lawrence County projects are already fully lined up.
At this time, the organization is specifically looking for additional projects in Monroe County.
Volunteers encouraged to get involved
Those interested in volunteering can also begin making plans now. Volunteer opportunities throughout Monroe and Lawrence counties will be posted as the event approaches, with additional opportunities expected to be added throughout September.
Residents are encouraged to gather their families, friends, or coworkers and make plans to spend October 2 giving back.

United Way of South Central Indiana hopes the relaunch of Day of Caring will bring community members together for a day of service while helping local organizations and residents tackle projects that can make a lasting difference.
