Grants available for community pedestrian and bicycle initiatives

BLOOMINGTON The 2026 application cycle for the Local-Motion Grant Program is now open with an application deadline of Friday, October 9. This program is designed to promote walking, rolling, and biking throughout Bloomington. The program funds initiatives that engage the community in and promote education on sustainable transportation. It is run in partnership with the Transportation Commission.

Eligible organizations may submit one project application per annual cycle, with a maximum grant award of $2,400 per project. Up to $7,500 may be awarded across all selected applicants. Applications are welcome from nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations, and local businesses that propose creative and impactful projects supporting active transportation. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the program guidelines and submit their proposals using the online application.
