LAWRENCE COUNTY — The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County kept local children learning, active and engaged throughout the summer, with hundreds of young people taking part in programs designed to provide a safe, enriching place to spend their summer days.
According to the Club’s July impact report, 229 members attended Summer at the Club at least one day during July, with an average of 125 members attending each day.
The Club’s summer programming provided children with opportunities to build friendships, explore their interests, stay active and continue learning while school was out.
A major part of the summer effort was the Club’s Summer Learning Labs, which helped students stay engaged academically during the summer months. In July, 75 members successfully completed the Summer Learning Labs.
The Club said the summer was filled with learning, creativity, friendships and fun, giving local children opportunities to grow both academically and personally.
The strong participation numbers highlight the need for programs that give children a safe place to spend their summer while providing activities that support their development.
For many families, summer can create challenges when it comes to finding safe, affordable and enriching activities for children. The Boys & Girls Club helps address that need by giving young people a place where they can learn, socialize and participate in activities with their peers.
The Club credited its staff, volunteers, supporters and community partners for helping make the summer programs possible.
