Leadership Daviess County preparing for next class beginning late September

WASHINGTON — Purdue Extension Daviess County is preparing to launch the next cohort of Leadership Daviess County, an eight-month civic development program designed to strengthen personal leadership skills and foster community engagement across the region.

Meeting one day each month from late September through May, the initiative equips local leaders with insights into critical county operations while expanding their professional networks. The curriculum incorporates interactive workshops covering leadership styles, interpersonal communication, conflict management, local government, economic development, education, community health, and nonprofit board service.

Hands-On Exploration and Site Visits A signature element of Leadership Daviess County is its immersive approach. Participants travel throughout Daviess County to meet with civic officials, visit local businesses, and tour key institutions, including a featured visit to Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane.

The program begins with an opening retreat at Pleasant Grove Farm, providing class members a dedicated environment to build team cohesion before monthly day-long sessions commence.
