BLOOMINGTON – August finds the Waldron rich in local talent, with the opening of two new shows and an extension of our current Spotlight Gallery Show, Reflections, by M. Griffin.
In the Miller and Educational Galleries, the Bloomington Arts Commission presents Stepping Stones: 2025 Artistic Advancement Grant Recipients. On display is a wide selection of works from these grant recipients, showcasing painting, drawing, fiber arts, printmaking, music, filmmaking, and glass. Through their generous support, the BAC awards the Artistic Advancement Grant every year to support artists in the pursuit of their practice. The funds are used for anything applying to this goal. Join us this Friday to have a look at the work on display, as well as catch performances from musicians and dancers.
Gloria Manzanares Romero and Emily Zarse present their new show, The Pregnant Form, in the Treasury Gallery. Referencing their personal archives of over 500 historic photographs from the 1940s through early 2000s depicting pregnancy, the artists have created an intimate display of gestural drawings and paintings as well as photographs. The work explores themes of intimacy, memory, and historical documentation, as well as the invisible labor of family archiving.
On Sunday, August 9, Gail Fairfield will be closing her show, SpaceScapes, at the Constellation Playhouse with a gallery talk and reception. Her show features vibrant depictions of deep space based on her lifelong fascination with planetary patterns.
