BEDFORD — The Bedford Police Department Pension Board will meet on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, to evaluate pension paperwork for two new police officer candidates and address board leadership transitions.
The meeting will take place at Bedford City Municipal Hall, located at 1617 K Street, beginning with an Executive Session at 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by a Public Session at approximately 10:45 a.m.
According to the official meeting notice, board members will convene privately during the closed Executive Session to review confidential medical documentation for candidates Cameron Hagan and John Tarrants. The review is required to determine their eligibility and approve them for admission into the Bedford Police Pension system.
Following the closed session, the board will open the doors to the public at 10:45 a.m. The public agenda includes:
- Call to Order and reading/approval of minutes from the board’s April 2, 2026 meeting.
- Review & Approval: Formal board approval of pension paperwork for candidates Cameron Hagan and John Tarrants, pending final clearance from the Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS).
- Board Leadership Changes: Official reading and formal acceptance of resignation letters from board members Colonel Joe DeWees and Major Blake Wade.
- General Discussion and adjournment.
The Bedford Police Pension Board is comprised of ex-officio city officials alongside elected active and retired law enforcement officers:
- Ex-Officio Trustees: Mayor Sam Craig (Chairperson), Billie Tumey (Treasurer), and Police Chief Terry Moore.
- Elected Board Members: Secretary Brian Turpen, Major Jeremy Bridges, Captain Drew Lemke, retired officer Rob Herr, Colonel Joe DeWees, and Major Blake Wade.
