NASHVILLE — The Nashville Police Department, in partnership with the local RE/MAX Team and area emergency responders, is hosting a free Back-to-School Bash this evening, July 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Deer Run Park (1001 Deer Run Lane).
The community celebration brings together local families, public safety agencies, and local vendors for an evening of entertainment, youth activities, and community outreach.
Highlights and Activities
- Hot Air Balloon Rides: Tethered rides aboard the RE/MAX hot air balloon will be offered free to attendees (weather permitting) beginning around 7:00 p.m.
- Family Fun: Attractions include bounce houses, a water obstacle course, and local food trucks.
- First Responder Meet-and-Greet: Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with local police officers, firefighters, and rescue workers, along with checking out emergency vehicles on display.
- Local Vendors: Dozens of community businesses, non-profits, and service organizations will be set up throughout the park.
“Stuff the Bus” School Supply Drive
A central focus of the event is the “Stuff the Bus” initiative, aimed at equipping local students with necessary classroom supplies ahead of the upcoming school year. A school bus will be parked on-site to collect community donations, which will be distributed directly to area schools.
Organizers note that requested items for classrooms this year include:
- Kleenex & Hand Sanitizer
- Pencils, Colored Pencils, Pens & Highlighters
- Markers & Expo Markers
- Crayons & Note Pads
- Post-It Notes
- Headphones/Earphones
- Small Plants & Classroom Decor (such as Inspirational Posters)
- Fun Read-Aloud Books
The event is open to all community members, regardless of whether they have school-aged children. In the event of severe weather, organizers have designated Thursday, July 23, as a rain date.
