Monroe County and DAR to honor Revolutionary patriots with Patriot Plaque Dedication Ceremony

BLOOMINGTON — A significant historical commemoration is coming to downtown Bloomington next month to honor the local veterans of America’s founding conflict. Monroe County and the Bloomington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have extended a public invitation to a Patriot Plaque Dedication Ceremony.

The event, which is part of the nationwide America 250 celebrations, is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th, 2026, beginning promptly at 11:00 a.m. The dedication will take place on the first floor of the historic Monroe County Courthouse, located at 100 West Kirkwood Avenue.

The ceremony will formally honor the Revolutionary Patriots who are buried throughout Monroe County. The visual invitation features patriotic red, white, and blue motifs alongside the official logos for the Daughters of the American Revolution and America 250.

Following the formal dedication inside the courthouse, a public reception will be hosted by the DAR. The reception will merge with the Monroe County History Center’s “History On The Block” party, offering attendees a chance to continue the historic celebration with the local community.
