Civic Engagement Group to host ‘Civics Literacy Lab’ in Ellettsville

ELLETTSVILLE — In an effort to bolster community advocacy and demystify the legislative process, Indivisible South Central Indiana (ISCI) has announced it will host a Civics Literacy Lab later this month.

The interactive workshop is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will take place at the Monroe County Public Library’s Ellettsville Branch, located at 600 West Temperance Street.

The session will be presented by MADVoters, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to voter education. According to ISCI organizers, the lab is designed to provide crucial, nonpartisan insights into the civic process, giving attendees the practical tools they need to better advocate for themselves, their families, and their local communities.

The workshop will cover a wide range of foundational civic topics, including:

  • Voting Laws: Up-to-date guidance on voter eligibility, registration procedures, and voter ID requirements.
  • Elections & Officials: Crucial details regarding the upcoming 2026 election cycle and a breakdown of the specific roles and responsibilities of various elected officials.
  • The Legislative Process: An inside look at how laws are made and passed.
  • Community Action: Practical, effective strategies for citizens to take meaningful action in their own neighborhoods.

Due to the interactive nature of the presentation, organizers are requesting that all participants arrive by 2:45 p.m. so that sign-ins can be completed and the training can begin promptly at 3:00 p.m.

Advanced registration is required to secure a spot. Residents interested in attending the Civics Literacy Lab can sign up through Indivisible South Central Indiana’s official registration portal.
