BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence two-sport star Sammie Nusbaum has been named the school’s female Athlete of the Year by the WBIW.com website.
Nusbaum was a standout in golf and basketball during her junior campaign.
On the golf course, Nusbaum played the top position for the Stars. She earned All-Hoosier Hills Conference honors with a 71 in the conference tournament, then helped BNL win its 13th consecutive sectional championship. She was at her best in the regional at Country Oaks, claiming medalist honors while the Stars won the regional title for the second time in three years. BNL finished 17th in the IHSAA state finals.
In basketball, Nusbaum was a team catalyst, leading the Stars in scoring (11.5) and rebounding (5.0) as BNL finished the campaign with a 16-8 mark. She was named to the All-HHC First Team by the league coaches.
Other notable athletes who enjoyed outstanding seasons included Bella Warren (golf, basketball, softball), Trinidy Bailey (volleyball, basketball), Paige Voigtschild (cross country, track), Adalynn Bailey (volleyball, softball), Lily Mishler (volleyball, track), Sara Williams (volleyball, softball), Jaden Schofield (softball), Sammie Gratzer (volleyball), Ava Lipp (swimming), Miley Sherrill (basketball) and Emma Voris (golf, tennis).
WBIW.com will name a male Athlete of the Year. The list of the Top 10 stories for the 2025-26 school year will also be announced.
