BEDFORD — If you have old cell phones, tangled power cords, or a dusty television taking up valuable closet space, General Motors is offering a free and convenient way to clear the clutter while helping the planet.

In observance of World Environment Day, the GM Bedford Environmental Team at Bedford Casting Operations will host a free community electronic waste (e-waste) recycling drive on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at entrance 3 at 105 GM Drive.
The event highlights General Motors’ ongoing commitment to award-winning environmental stewardship by ensuring hazardous electronic components are kept out of local landfills. Because most household electronics are 100% recyclable, this drive allows residents to safely dispose of items that contain valuable materials that can be reclaimed and reused.
The GM Bedford Environmental Team will accept almost any household item that features a power cord or an internal circuit board. Accepted electronics include:
- Televisions and monitors
- Computers, laptops, keyboards, and mice
- Cell phones and smartphones
- Gaming consoles and video game systems
- Printers, copiers, and scanners
- Cameras and video equipment
- CD players, DVD players, and radios
- Small home appliances (e.g., blenders, coffee makers, vacuums)
- Small household batteries
- Other miscellaneous electronic devices
Items That Cannot Be Accepted
To ensure safety and compliance with environmental regulations, certain items cannot be processed at this event. The following materials will be rejected at the gate:
- Refrigerant Units: Air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, or dehumidifiers.
- Small Gasoline Engines: Lawn mowers, weed eaters, or chainsaws.
- Hazardous Household Waste: Light bulbs, thermostats, and smoke detectors.
Residents do not need to register in advance—simply load your items into your vehicle and pull up to Entrance #3 during event hours, where volunteers will assist with unloading.
