Indiana 4-H quality livestock care training dates announced

BEDFORD – Purdue University Extension has released the training schedule for the 2026 Indiana 4-H quality livestock care program. To exhibit beef cattle, dairy cattle, swine, sheep, meat goats, dairy goats, poultry, and rabbits, 4-H members must be certified through this annual training or the online youth for the quality care of animals program. Members must be registered before attending a training.

The first session is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, at 6 p.m. at the extension office, followed by a training on Sunday, May 3, at 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Additional sessions will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds expo hall, Monday, June 15, at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds community building, and Monday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at the extension office.

The cost is $3 for each exhibitor. Those choosing the online youth for the quality care of animals program must present their completion certificate to their 4-H educator. Registration for the local program is available through the 4-H online system. Individuals in need of special accommodations should contact the extension office at 812-275-4623.
