INDIANAPOLIS — Hoosiers Concerned About Gun Violence (HCGV), in collaboration with the Indy Public Safety Foundation, MCCOY (Marion County Commission on Youth), the Marion County Youth Violence Prevention Coalition (MCYVPC), and other community partners, invites residents to participate in the 3rd Annual Indianapolis Peace Walk on Friday, April 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Taggart Memorial in Riverside Park (1856 Burdsal Parkway).

The Peace Walk will serve as a kickoff to National Youth Violence Prevention Week (NYVPW), observed April 20–24, 2026. Founded in 2001, NYVPW is a national initiative that empowers youth to lead efforts to prevent violence and promote safety in their schools and communities.
The Indianapolis Peace Walk brings together community members, youth leaders, and local organizations to promote peace, support young people, and build a safer, stronger city.
Participants will gather beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by welcome remarks, community speakers, and youth performances. The evening will continue with a walk through the Riverside neighborhood.
“This event is an opportunity for our community to come together and demonstrate our shared commitment to supporting young people and preventing gun violence,” said Rebecca McCracken, Co-President of HCGV.
The Indianapolis Peace Walk is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend and stand in support of gun violence prevention.
