INDIANAPOLIS – Many hundreds of volunteers and professionals who love and care for companion animals will gather for the 7th annual Indiana Animal Welfare Conference on April 17 and 18 at the Primo Event Center.
Last year’s conference set a record for attendance, with more than 425 attendees, and this year’s event is expected to be sold out as well.

With shelters, foster, and rescue services around the state and across the country overwhelmed, the critical role of spaying and neutering will be a focus through all three tracks: shelter and rescue operations for volunteers and staff, veterinary and shelter medicine with five hours of continuing education credits for veterinarians and vet techs, and leadership and strategic planning to chart a compassionate and practical future for animal welfare.

“All are welcome,” said Cheri Storms, executive director of Pet Friendly Services of Indiana, the host organization for the event. “The conference brings together animal welfare professionals and volunteers, rescue and community organizations, veterinary professionals, and animal control officers. If you are new to animal welfare, there’s a seat at the table for you. Our goal is to build a lifesaving team that spans Indiana and enables us to help as many animals as possible.”
Pet Friendly Services supports the work of rescue groups, community-cat programs, and shelters across the state. The organization provides free and discounted spay-and-neuter services to address the root cause of overpopulation. Funding comes from the Pet Friendly license plate, grants, donations, fundraisers, and bequests.
Registration for the conference is a modest $75 before April 1; $90 after. The complete agenda, registration, and hotel blocks are available at Indiana Animal Welfare Conference – Pet Friendly Services of Indiana.
