I-69 Expo returns to Washington: Top youth swine talent to compete April 25

WASHINGTON The Daviess County 4-H Grounds will once again transform into a hub for elite youth livestock competition as the Interstate 69 Expo arrives on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

A key stop on the Hoosier Elite Swine Circuit, the expo is expected to draw competitors from across Indiana and neighboring states. The event is recognized as a premier platform for young exhibitors to showcase their skills and the quality of their livestock.

The gates at the 4-H grounds will open on Friday evening for those traveling early, with official check-in scheduled for Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The competition officially kicks off at 10:30 a.m., featuring:

  • Livestock Competition: Judging of various breeds and classes.
  • Showmanship Contests: Evaluations of the exhibitors’ ability to handle and present their animals.
  • High Stakes: Participants will compete for significant cash prizes, highlighted by a $750 Grand Champion award.

Organizers have confirmed that food will be available on-site throughout the day, ensuring spectators and families can enjoy the festivities without leaving the grounds. The event serves not only as a competition but as a community gathering for the regional agricultural community.

Exhibitors are encouraged to utilize the online pre-registration system to streamline their check-in process on Saturday morning.

About the Hoosier Elite Swine Circuit

Managed by the Indiana Junior Livestock Association (IJLA), the Hoosier Elite Swine Circuit is a points-based series that promotes youth development through livestock exhibition. Competitors earn points throughout the season at various sanctioned “circuit” shows, culminating in year-end awards that recognize the top exhibitors and animals in the state.

The I-69 Expo is traditionally one of the early-season highlights, offering a “first look” at the top-tier swine that will be vying for state-wide honors later in the year.
