Tree identification workshop scheduled at Spring Mill State Park

MITCHELL A two-part winter tree identification workshop will be held at Spring Mill State Park in February, offering hands-on training in identifying trees without leaves.

The workshop will be led by forester Janet Eger and will include an indoor session focused on bark, buds, nuts, and seeds, followed by an outdoor guided walk beginning at the Grissom Memorial.

The first session is scheduled for Feb. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Oak Room at the Spring Mill State Park Inn. The second session will take place Feb. 14 at 9 a.m., with participants meeting at the Grissom Memorial parking lot.

The cost to attend is $10. Pre-registration is required due to limited space.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the White River Forestry Committee and Spring Mill State Park. For more information or to register, contact Teena Ligman at 812-278-0139 or by email at tdlilman@att.net.
