LAWRENCE – Vietnam Veterans of America Sammy L Davis Chapter 295 will host a luncheon for veterans and their families, noon Saturday, February 21, in the veterans center, 9450 East 59th Street, Lawrence, Indiana, 46226, during which chapter leaders will present their highly regarded program explaining benefits available to veterans and their families through the Veterans Administration and other organizations.

“The genesis of this presentation was our realization that we were doing a great job of helping veterans get the benefits they had earned but we were not doing a very good job of explaining the benefits their spouses and survivors were eligible for,” Dennis Smalling, president of VVA Chapter 295 and a certified service officer explained. “Since we’ve been doing these briefings, we have helped many veterans and their families get the benefits they have earned.”
According to Smalling, their presentation has been getting state-wide and national attention.
“This information is thoroughly researched and life-changing for some of our veterans and their families,” Smalling said. “We are trying to get this information out to as many people as we can in as many ways as we can. We would like to give this presentation as often and in as many locations as possible. Last year
we were invited to give it at an event held at a Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter in South Bend and at the national convention for the Society of Certified Senior Advisors in Baltimore.
“We are constantly seeking new opportunities and will respond to requests from groups who would like to host us,” Smalling concluded.
According to Smalling, VVA has partnered with the Indiana Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors to post a video of the Veterans, Spouse, and Survivor Benefits presentation on their YouTube channel so that interested parties unable to attend the quarterly programs in Lawrence are able to get the information at any time.
There is no charge, and all are welcome.
