BEDFORD — The Lawrence County justice community will gather later this month to celebrate a significant milestone in the life of a local veteran. On Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Lawrence County Veterans Treatment Court will host its third graduation ceremony, honoring the resilience and recovery of those who served.
The ceremony is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. at the Lawrence Superior Court II Court Room.
The upcoming commencement will focus on the achievements of graduate Cory Alan Jacks. According to court officials, Jacks has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the program’s rigorous requirements over the past several months.
During his time in the Veterans Treatment Court, Jacks successfully navigated a path toward stability by establishing steady employment, furthering his educational goals, reassuming vital family responsibilities and maintaining active participation in recovery programs.
Court representatives noted that Jacks has become a “successful role model” for other participants, citing his consistent attitude and dedication to reclaiming a sober, productive life.
The Lawrence County Veterans Treatment Court was established with a clear mission: to provide a transformative alternative to traditional incarceration for veterans struggling with substance abuse or mental health challenges.
By combining judicial oversight with specialized treatment and peer mentoring, the program aims to promote public safety while helping participants reintegrate into the community with dignity.
“Our mission and goal is to provide change… and assist the participants in reclaiming clean and sober lives as productive members of the community,” the court stated in a release.
The court continues to emphasize the importance of community backing for the program’s success. Residents, family members, and local veterans are encouraged to attend the morning ceremony to witness the impact of the program firsthand and celebrate Jacks’ achievements.
