Constellation launches Summer Camp enrollment for students grades 1-12

BLOOMINGTON  Constellation is thrilled to launch enrollment for a robust array of summer camps in theater, comedy, film, and musical theater. In addition to the return of popular, time-tested camps, including Broadway Bootcamp and Movie Camp, theater production camps make their return this year with Theater Camps for Kids: The Odyssey and Theater Camp for Littles: The Lorax.

Full-week camps for Littles (rising grades 1-3), Kids (rising grades 4-7), and Teens (rising grades 8-12) are running June 1 through July 24 and are conveniently located in various locations across downtown Bloomington, including Constellation Studios, the Constellation Playhouse, and the Waldron Arts Center.

A full schedule of camps is available on Constellation Stage & Screen’s website, and enrollment is officially open!

After last year’s successful inauguration of Musical Theater Camp, an immersive, 2-week exploration of being in a full-scale musical production, Constellation will dive into its second year with two high-energy and splashy seafaring adventures for kids – SpongeBob The Musical and Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Campers will be led through the beginning-to-end process of putting on a musical and will culminate in two showcase performances in front of a live audience. Both camps will be directed and music directed by Debby Jenkins, an accomplished veteran musical theater educator.

Rounding out Constellation’s summer camp program is the return of Broadway Beginnings for rising 1st-3rd graders. Offering both full-day and half-day camp options, Broadway Beginnings: In the Big Blue World is the perfect musical playground for aspiring young musical performers and will allow campers to shine in both group and individual performances from popular, kid-friendly shows like Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and BeyondThe Little MermaidMoanaSpongeBob the MusicalLuca, and more!

For kids looking to put their funny bones to the test, Comedy Camp for Kids: The Zip Zap Zop Zone gives budding comedians the opportunity to build improvisational skills and performance technique in a safe, fun, and collaborative environment. New this summer is an expanded version of Constellation’s Theater Playground program, specifically designed to ignite imaginations and build essential theater skills.

In Theater Playground: A Mythical Creature Quest, young “questers” will explore legendary realms through enchanting activities like Dragon Dreams, Unicorn Universe, and Mermaid Mystery.

Constellation offers a limited number of full scholarships for students in grades K-12. These scholarships are generously sponsored by IU Credit Union and allow students who qualify for free/reduced lunch to attend a Constellation class at no cost to them. For more details on sponsorships and how to apply, visit Constellation’s website.

After three years of nearly sold-out summer camps, Constellation is encouraging families to enroll their students as soon as possible to guarantee their spot. Registration officially opens on Tuesday, February 3, through Constellation’s website. For questions about programming, please contact Eric Shelley at eric@seeconstellation.org.
