Mitchell announces full day of Christmas events for December 13

MITCHELL — The City of Mitchell will host a full day of Christmas festivities on Saturday, Dec. 13, with events scheduled across town from morning until evening. The celebration is organized by Mitchell Parks and Recreation in partnership with local businesses, churches, and community groups.

Activities begin at 11 a.m. with a vendor market and food trucks downtown, running until 5 p.m. A Christmas Carnival at Tulip Street Church will take place from noon to 2 p.m., while Friendship Park will host a Playground Project coffee fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m.

The Mitchell Opera House will present a free showing of The Grinch at 1 p.m., which includes a meet-and-greet with the Grinch following the film. Christmas at the Library will run from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Phi Beta Psi will serve chili at 4 p.m. while supplies last. Santa will appear at Friendship Park from 4 to 5:30 p.m., and a reindeer food station will operate at Mimi’s Event Center during the same time period.

The official tree lighting is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by the Christmas parade at 6:15 p.m. The parade route will run from the Church of Christ to the Monon Trail.
