BEDFORD — For those ready to build a career in the trades, the North Lawrence Career Center is offering two powerful training opportunities this winter in partnership with Wagler Education and Training Center and the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council.
Registration is now open for both the Certified Welder Course and the NCCER Core Certification Course, which begin January 26, 2026, and run through February 26, 2026. Each five-week program meets three evenings a week from 4:30–8:30 p.m. at the North Lawrence Career Center.

The Certified Welder Course, taught by instructor Mike Tuell, provides hands-on instruction in FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes, along with safety and classroom training. Graduates will earn direct entry into the Millwright Apprenticeship Program with IKORCC upon certification.
The NCCER Certification Course, led by Tyler Kalber, focuses on the fundamentals of construction, including basic construction skills, residential wiring, and electrical tools.
Grant funding is available for both programs. To qualify, participants must have an Indiana ID and be willing to work toward a diploma or GED if they don’t already have one.
In-person registration takes place Monday, December 9 at 3:30 p.m. at the North Lawrence Career Center. Attendees must be on time and bring an Indiana ID.
