MITCHELL — VFW Post 9107 will hold an all-day Veterans Day kickoff on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at 2449 VFW Rd. The schedule includes a free breakfast for veterans and their families from 8 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a chili lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with donations supporting a new veterans mural.
The post is raising funds to create a 2,000-plus-square-foot mural that traces America’s wars from the Spanish-American War to the present. The project, developed in partnership with Adam Long and Art Happens, will honor Indiana combat veterans and include a QR-code digital archive of names and stories modeled after the Vietnam Veterans Memorial concept. Drawings, prizes and fundraising activities will run throughout the day.

Indiana veterans who served in-country and hold campaign badges may be memorialized on the mural. A minimum donation of $25 is requested to add a veteran’s name and help fund the project. Donations can be made in person at the event or at VFW Post 9107, and contributions are also accepted at any Hoosier Hills Credit Union branch to the VFW Memorial Wall Club Six account.
Community members are invited to attend, honor local service members, and support the mural effort.
