MITCHELL — The lights, the stage, the spotlight—this is your chance to shine! WQRK Southern Indiana’s Classic Hits & LiteFM Persimmon Idol is back, and they’re looking for the region’s brightest voices to step up and show the world what they’ve got!
If you’ve ever dreamed of singing before a roaring crowd, of holding the mic as the spotlight hits you, of hearing the applause rise for YOUR performance—this is your moment. Whether you’re a powerhouse vocalist, a soulful storyteller, or a fresh new talent waiting to be discovered, Persimmon Idol is the stage where stars are born.
This year’s Idol promises to be bigger, bolder, and more exciting than ever before, with two divisions: Youth (ages 10–17) and Adult (ages 18 and up). Contestants will first audition in front of a panel of judges at the Preliminary Round on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 4–7 p.m. at Mitchell High School Auditorium. Auditions are closed to the public.
From there, the chosen finalists will take the legendary Main Street Stage in Mitchell on Monday, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m. under the bright lights of Persimmon Festival week. Picture it: the energy of the crowd, the thrill of live performance, and the chance to be crowned this year’s Persimmon Idol!
Winners in both the youth and adult divisions won’t just walk away with bragging rights—they’ll take home a Persimmon Idol trophy and a $500 CASH PRIZE! That’s right—real money for real talent, plus the glory of joining an elite group of past Idol champions.
Registration is easy—fill out the entry form in advance (preferred) or sign up on-site the day of prelims. Can’t make it in person? No problem! Upload your audition to YouTube, Vimeo, or Facebook and send the link to hdavisgm@gmail.com.
Rules are simple: songs must be family-friendly, under 4 minutes, and performed without lead vocals on the backing track. Bring your own CD, instrument, or go bold with acapella—it’s your time to shine!
