JC’s Christian Academy opens first day of school under Voucher Program

BEDFORD JC’s Christian Academy opened its doors Tuesday for the first day of the 2025-26 school year, marking its inaugural year participating in Indiana’s school voucher program.

A parent-led prayer, organized by Kristen Christenberry, began the morning as families, staff, and students gathered to launch the academic year.

This year brings new faces to the faculty, including Brother Brent Taylor, who is beginning his first year teaching history and science to the 7th and 8th grades. “The cool part for me is that we’re going to teach science and history from a Christian perspective. Teaching about creation, teaching about science in a way that lines up with the Bible.”

New classrooms have been added to accommodate growth, and construction is underway to integrate JC’s Christian Playhouse, the school’s early childhood program, into the main building.

Brother Gregory Bault returns as principal, while Sister Julie Perry resumes her role as director of education. Brother Bault provided a quote that you can listen to below.

The school’s leadership said the voucher program and facility expansion will allow more families access to faith-based education in Lawrence County.
