PAOLI — The Indiana 4-H program is calling for volunteers to become certified instructors for its shooting sports program.
The program, which teaches youth safe and responsible shooting skills, is seeking passionate individuals to serve as role models and coaches. A certification workshop is scheduled for September 5-7, 2025, at Ross Camp, located at 9225 W 75 S, West Lafayette, IN. Another workshop is planned for April 10-12, 2026.
The workshop will certify volunteers in one of six disciplines: archery, muzzleloading, outdoor skills, pistol, rifle, or shotgun.

The program emphasizes that volunteers do not need to be experts in shooting, but rather have a willingness to learn coaching techniques and work with a county 4-H team. The registration fee is $250, though the local office will assist with the cost. Registration for the September workshop closes on August 25, 2025.
The program is a partnership between the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Hunter Education Division and Purdue Extension/Indiana 4-H. It aims to foster confidence, self-discipline, and lifelong skills in young people.
