BLOOMINGTON – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting Monday afternoon in the parking lot of the Monroe County Humane Association, located at 791 South Fieldstone Boulevard.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., emergency crews arrived on the scene and found a 64-year-old Bloomington resident suffering from a gunshot wound to their leg.
The wounded individual told authorities that his revolver “went off” as they were exiting their vehicle. A quick-thinking good Samaritan immediately applied a tourniquet to the injury, while staff members from the Humane Association facility provided additional first aid until paramedics arrived.
The injured person was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident.
