Daviess County 4-H to host mandatory poultry blood testing on June 30

WASHINGTON — The Daviess County 4-H Association will conduct its annual poultry blood testing event on Monday, June 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Daviess County 4-H Fairgrounds in Washington.

The testing is a requirement for all poultry animals to be eligible for exhibition at the upcoming Daviess County 4-H Show. Birds must be tested for pullorum-typhoid, a bacterial infection that can affect flocks and is monitored under state regulations to protect public health and animal welfare.

The cost for testing is $3 per animal. Participants may pay by check made out to the Daviess County 4-H Association.

For more information, community members are encouraged to contact the Daviess County Purdue Extension Office or visit the 4-H Association’s official page.
