4-H Tractor Operator contest set for July 15 in Salem

SALEM — Youth across southern Indiana will have the chance to show off their driving skills at the Area 2 4-H Tractor Operator Contest, scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Washington County Fairgrounds, located at 118 N. Fair Street in Salem.

Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with the contest beginning promptly at 8:00 a.m. Youth participants will compete in three categories: riding mower, zero-turn mower, and lawn tractor. The top three qualifiers in each division will move on to represent their counties at the Indiana State Fair on Thursday, August 7.

Organizers emphasize that the registration deadline is July 7, and all entries must be submitted online at https://area2tractor.4honline.com. The contest gives young people the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their mechanical skills, safety awareness, and confidence behind the wheel in a competitive yet supportive environment.

Participants from across Area 2—including Orange County—are encouraged to sign up and participate in this signature 4-H event, which combines fun, learning, and the spirit of friendly competition.

Purdue University, which supports 4-H in Indiana, is an equal access and equal opportunity institution.
