BROWNSTOWN – Jackson County 4-H will host an event called “Trail Talk: Meet Your New 4-H Extension Educator!” on Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, 2025. The casual hike will take place both days from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Jackson-Washington State Forest, located at 1278 E State Road 250, Brownstown.

4-H volunteers and their families are invited to join Brier Ryver, the new Jackson County 4-H Extension Educator, for a relaxed, family-friendly hike of approximately 2-3 miles. Participants will have the opportunity to get to know Ryver, ask questions, share ideas, and learn fun biology facts while enjoying the trails.
Attendees should bring comfortable shoes or hiking boots, weather-appropriate clothing, water, and trail snacks. The event is rain or shine; however, if persistent rain makes the playground and shelter unsafe, the conversation with Brier will be held off the trails. A thunderstorm will lead to the event being called off.
The meeting location is the furthest parking lot from Camp Road’s entrance, next to the second playground area and the Pinnacle Peak trailhead. The coordinates for the meeting location are 38.866718, -85.999808.
Purdue University is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action institution. Those needing an interpreter or translator for the event must request one at bryver@purdue.edu by June 20, 2025, or by calling (812) 358-6101.
