BEDFORD – The Bedford Outdoors Series will feature a presentation titled “Good Fire” on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Otis Park Bath House, located at 607 Tunnellton Road in Bedford.
The presentation will be led by Kat Shay, a forest ecologist and Project Coordinator at the Hardwood Ecosystem Experiment. Shay will discuss the current and historical beneficial uses of fire for both people and the ecosystems across southern Indiana and the central hardwood region. Her work at the Hardwood Ecosystem Experiment involves managing collaborative research projects and prescribed burns focused on resilient land management and forest regeneration within the region.
