Bloomington to host third annual Earth Day celebration at Switchyard Park

BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington will celebrate its third annual Earth Day with a free, family-friendly event at Switchyard Park on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 4 p.m.

The celebration, hosted by the City of Bloomington’s Economic & Sustainable Development and Parks & Recreation departments, will feature various activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community engagement.

Attendees can enjoy live music, a selection of food and drinks from local vendors, and participate in raffles. Children’s activities will include face painting, and the event will also host local vendors showcasing sustainable products and initiatives.

One of the highlights of the celebration will be a native tree seedling giveaway, encouraging residents to plant locally sourced trees. Attendees will also have the opportunity to test drive electric vehicles (EVs), and the city will present sustainability awards.

The event will also include voting for the Eco Heroes Art Competition, recognizing creative expressions of environmental stewardship. Additionally, the city will acknowledge the contributions of local volunteers.
