Seymour gears up for city-wide Make Seymour Shine cleanup

SEYMOUR – Residents of Seymour are encouraged to participate in the city’s annual “Make Seymour Shine” cleanup event, scheduled for Monday, April 7th, through Friday, April 11th. This city-wide initiative aims to beautify the community by providing residents with a convenient way to dispose of unwanted items.

During the designated week, residents can place a single pickup-sized load of trash at the curb on their regular trash collection day, and city crews will haul it away free of charge. It is crucial to have all items at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled trash day. Please note that there will be no alley pickups during this event.

To ensure efficient collection, residents are asked to separate their waste into distinct categories:

  • Regular Trash: General household waste.
  • Metal: Any metal items for recycling.
  • Yard Waste: Leaves, branches, and other organic yard debris.
  • Landscaping, Wood Debris, Drywall, and Remodeling Debris: These items must be separated from regular yard waste.
  • Tires: Up to four passenger vehicle tires per household will be collected. Semi-truck and agricultural tires will not be accepted.
  • Hazardous Materials: Pesticides, old fuel, cleaners, oil-based paint, and other dangerous materials should be brought to the Seymour Department of Public Works on F Avenue at Freedom Field for proper disposal.

This cleanup initiative is intended for residential and small business customers only.

The “Make Seymour Shine” event provides residents with an excellent opportunity to declutter their homes and contribute to a cleaner, more attractive city. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this service and help make Seymour shine.
