OOLITIC—On Monday, April 1st, the Oolitic Town Council met for its monthly meeting to tend to the town’s business. The meeting was much different than usual, as the board Vice President, Jon Broglin, could not attend due to health issues.

Business continues with two essential items to address.
A resident came to the meeting to share an issue they have been facing. For months, a resident has been believed to be breeding dogs. These dogs have been barking throughout the night, making it difficult for residents to sleep. Officer Ryan Duckett advised the resident to call the police when these issues arise, as the dogs violate a noise ordinance.
The board also adopted a new order stating that any city spending had to be approved by the President or Vice President of the board, with no exceptions. This was to help manage town funds, which are low. This will not affect any existing contracts or city maintenance that residents expect, such as water.
Finally, the board established a process for holding a hearing on raising local taxes. WBIW will notify the public once a hearing date is set.
