BLOOMINGTON — Indiana Senate Democrats flipped five seats in Senate Districts 1, 11, 15, 22 and 31 in Tuesday’s general election while retaining Districts 4, 29 and 46.

Following the victories, Indiana Senate Democratic Leader Shelli Yoder (D-Bloomington) issued the following statement on behalf of the caucus:
“Last night, Hoosiers sent a clear message: They want change, they want relief, and they want leaders who will fight for them.
“Throughout this year, our caucus traveled across Indiana and listened to Hoosiers share the difficult choices they are making just to get by. We heard from parents struggling to afford childcare, seniors worried about rising bills, young adults priced out of the housing market, and families who feel like they can never get ahead. Their stories have shaped our priorities, and their voices will guide our work at the Statehouse.
“To every Hoosier who placed their trust in us, thank you. It is an honored responsibility to listen, lead, and fight for issues that matter most to you.
“As we prepare for the 2027 legislative session, we will measure every proposal against one simple question: Will this make life more affordable for Hoosiers? We are ready to champion legislation to lower utility costs, protect access to healthcare, expand affordable childcare, and hold data centers accountable for their impact on our communities.
“We didn’t earn these victories simply because we are Democrats. We earned them by listening to Hoosiers and fighting for the priorities that matter in their everyday lives. Tonight, Hoosiers made their voices heard. Tomorrow, we get to work earning their trust every single day.”
