WASHINGTON — A Washington man is behind bars following an investigation into a reported house fire in Washington.

The Washington Police Department arrested 42-year-old Timothy J. Cox without incident on October 29th on an arson warrant. The arrest was executed by department detectives alongside agents from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
The charges stem from a house fire reported on October 29th in the 2300 block of Oak Grove Road. Authorities note that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
In addition to this specific incident, law enforcement is actively looking into several other fires reported throughout the town over the past several months. Officials have not yet announced a formal connection between those fires and the arrested suspect.
Once completed, the findings from the ongoing investigations will be submitted to the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office for formal review.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
