Annual Becky’s Place Run for Hope returns to Bedford this Thanksgiving morning, register by Nov. 20

BEDFORD — Area residents can kick off their Thanksgiving holiday with fitness and purpose at the annual Becky’s Place Run for Hope 5K, taking place Thursday, Nov. 26, in downtown Bedford.

The family-friendly 5K event welcomes runners, walkers, and spectators of all ages and fitness levels to gather at The Depot, located at 1401 J St., starting at 9 a.m. All proceeds from the event directly support Becky’s Place, one of Lawrence County’s leading charitable organizations dedicated to helping homeless women and children transition into stable housing.

“Together we can transform their story to one of hope and safety for all,” organizers said, encouraging community members to participate or cheer from the sidelines on Thanksgiving morning.

Registration for the 5K run, 5K competitive walk, or 1-mile walk is $20 per participant. All participants will receive a finisher medal, with optional race T-shirts available for purchase for an additional $5.

The event features professional race timing by ABTiming, with awards presented to top finishers across five age divisions:

  • 17 and under
  • 18-39
  • 30-44
  • 45-59
  • 60 and older

Participants can register online through Friday, Nov. 20. Race packets will be available for pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, or on race morning at The Depot from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

Organizers are also seeking volunteers and event sponsors. Group volunteering opportunities are available for church groups, youth groups, sports teams, and families. Interested volunteers can contact Melinda Christian at mchristian@ccbin.org. Local businesses and organizations interested in sponsorship opportunities can contact Lynnsie Hughes at events@ccbin.org; sponsors who commit by Oct. 31 will be featured on the official race T-shirt.
