BEDFORD — Local police investigated an incident involving a counterfeit $100 bill passed at the Papa John’s restaurant located at 1501 16th Street.
According to Bedford Police Department incident reports, officers were dispatched to the business on November 1, 2026, at approximately 1:46 a.m. after store staff discovered the fake currency during closing procedures.
A Papa John’s employee reported that while reconciling the cash till, he noticed a $100 bill that “did not feel right” and appeared blurry upon closer inspection. Staff were unable to determine which customer provided the bill, noting only that it was accepted sometime between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Responding officers collected, photographed, and properly packaged the counterfeit bill—which carried serial number HF 62317553 B—to enter it into police evidence.
Detectives followed up on the case on November 2, contacting management to review store security camera footage. However, staff were unable to locate usable video or suspect information. As a result, the investigation has been closed and filed at the police department, with evidence slated for inventory lockup and eventual destruction.
